Strengthen Your Vessel for the Sake of Your Spirit

Something that has been showing up in my meditation and physical practice lately has been the idea of integrity. It also happens to be one of the pillars on which the studio was founded.

Google had this to say about integrity -

the condition of being unified, unimpaired, or sound in construction

the state of being whole and undivided.

It was interesting for me to weave integrity into my practice of yoga especially when I focus on the idea of being whole, undivided and considering yoga as a practice of uniting the body, breath and spirit. The practice of yoga can also be thought of as a microcosm of life.

Why are some things sooo hard? From a lingering warrior 2 or a difficult conversation with a loved one.  My contemplation has led me here; we must endure hardship. Those are the events that strengthen the weaknesses because your spirit (immortal self) needs a vessel of sound construction. Perhaps you've heard me at the end of a challenging class speak about inviting your spirit home. Much like you would declutter and clean your house for guests, the physical class can open you up, make room for more breath and release stagnation. Without a place to rest in your heart, one will always be chasing something.

The challenges of life expand our ability to be in the presence of life fully and that is where we find ourselves, our home, our immortal and enduring connection to everything. So in closing, I encourage you to explore the challenges that life has curated just for you as your path home to genuine peace. The breath can serve as your guide, anchoring you to the present moment and settling you into a profound understanding that you are precisely where you are meant to be. I call this contentment, I might even call it peace.

In gratitude,
Kim
